I sat the 642-813 CCNP SWITCH exam last Friday and bombed out. I fell around 10 percent short of the mark. I initially decided to sit the exam to see how much the difficulty was ramped up from the CCNA exam and at one stage about halfway through I though to myself “I’ve got this”, but a brain explosion on one of the simulations (complete mind blank) and time constraints put an end to that (I got a simulation on the last question and only had 2 minutes left).
Overall I am not too disappointed, I felt I needed to sit the exam to gauge where I was at and see if I was absorbing the material well enough and I think I am pretty close, so much so I have booked a retake for this coming Saturday. I will need to brush up a bit more on my theory to get ahead of the time curve.
I did not find the exam too difficult, I know that I made some rookie errors but overall I did not feel that I was out of my league, which was a welcome relief. I am choosing to take this as I am successfully learning the material and not that it is an easy test.
Tonight I sat down and identified my weak areas and I have mapped out some labs and study to address this. About 4 and a half days and I will know how effective this has been.
